Sirenix Reverie – The Green Hourglass

Design Summary:

This emerald green mermaid gown will take form with an off-shoulder neckline, boned bodice and cinched hourglass silhouette. The seam work embraces the body like a second skin; the flared hem whispers of waves, movement, transformation.

Inspiration & Reflection:

This is a love letter to the magic that informed my original imagination of fashion. This gown is inspired by the Sirenix transformation from Winx Club, and is my grown-up version of fantasy the effort to put into adult wear what the shimmering, Atlantis

-like beauty of childhood felt like, something elegant, something you and I still want to wear, and something that reflects emotions.

As a kid, I saw the Winx girls take back power with beauty, unity and individuality. This sketch is a quiet homage to that period the way we all fantasized with sparkles in our eyes and gowns mingling with our dreams.

Material Reference:

Stretch silk velvet for an element of fluidity and structure, latticed with internal boning and panel shaping. In motion it shimmers like something floating in still water just like the magic I grew up believing in.
